I suppose the bit of Mrs Parker talking about wanting a girl is a bit abrupt-- but considering the situation-- it does kind of make the mind jump to that... Sadly you've skipped past the fun part of having a young girl and gone straight into moody teen girl...
I suppose she is a bit TOO into the idea of having a daughter-- but again-- how the hell are you supposed to act in this kind of situation?
